12 Buckets Basketball Teams Complete Their First Season

Melinda Tognini

As the inaugural basketball season for the 12 Buckets Balga Rockets and North Balga Rockets draws to a close, we wholeheartedly thank the Stirling Senators for their involvement, especially US imports Kyle Lindbergh and Cassie Bates for coaching the two teams. With the last game scheduled for this Wednesday afternoon, the teams look set to finish 6th and 8th on the ladder - a fantastic effort by everyone involved from players to coaches to parents.

Not only has the season made a difference to the students involved, Kyle Lindbergh, who worked with the North Balga Rockets, says he has also been changed by the experience:

Prior to being with this group of kids, I never really wanted to coach. But now my coaching outlook has changed and is something I want to pursue as a career …  it’s just really had a great impact on my life and now my love for basketball is even greater.

Check out this short video to hear more of what Kyle had to say about coaching the North Balga Rockets.

Although we say goodbye to Kyle and Cassie as they head home to the States, we are rapt that the partnership between 12 Buckets and Stirling Senators is set to continue next season.
